Custom shape from 3D scan
The liner’s shape is directly based on the scan. 100 % custom for each user.
XL dimensional range
Max 70 cm height. Max 90 cm circumference. Min 2 mm thickness. No max thickness.
Choice of 3 Shore hardnesses
Choose between Relax, Active and Dynamic to best match the needs of your user.
Adjustable base thicknesses
The base thicknesses can be adjusted. No pads, fillings or compensations for Essential liners.
Controllable knee-flexion
Adjust the built-in pre-flexion of the liner to make daily wear more comfortable.

Indications
Is Essential the right line for your user?
Can typically be suited for
- Irregular limb shapes
- Conical limbs
- Very large / very small limbs
- Limbs for which off-the-shelf liners fit poorly
May not suffice if the user presents
- Sensitivities which require padding
- Scars and invaginations which require filling
- Pear-shapes which require compensations
- Abundant soft tissues or distal pendulum
Where an Essential liner would fall short, a UniShore liner gives you localised thickness control, and DualShore adds localised hardness zones.
Before you order
Key limitations to consider.
Essential is deliberately a narrower tool than UniShore. These are the trade-offs, stated plainly, so you can choose the right line the first time.
Accurate scan dimensions and shape are mandatory
- You need to ensure the scan dimensions are accurate (structured light scanners only). Essential liners do not come with a Fit Warranty.
- We do not re-shape soft tissues for Essential liners by default — it is on you to ensure soft tissues are positioned correctly. Use a stocking for scanning.
- Scans that still require processing by MotionTech (cleaning, re-shaping) incur an extra fee.
No edit possibilities
- It is not possible to edit an Essential liner.
- If the limb changes, you start over from a new scan.
- We cannot edit an Essential liner if the limb changes volume to ensure fit in an existing socket.
Limited thickness control
- You can control the base thickness profiles (no max thickness limit), but the thickness is uniform around the limb at any given height.
- You cannot apply pads, scar fillings or pear-shape compensations.
Limited suspension options
- Essential liners do not come with a pin-lock suspension or with silicone rings for vacuum suspension. Only Cushion is available.
Standard compression profiles
- Essential liners apply our proven standard compression targets, based on the sensitivity levels you indicate.
- These suit most users. For atypical compression sensitivity, the full thickness and compression control of a UniShore liner is the right tool.
