Step-by-step guidance for daily life with Your® Liner and Your® Sleeve — based on the official Instructions for Use (PDF), which remains the reference document.
Putting on (donning) Your® Liner
Your® Liner was designed specifically for your limb, so take the time to position it correctly.
- Turn the liner inside out, so the fabric cover is on the inside. Your skin should only touch the bare silicone surface, never the fabric.
- Find the alignment line printed on the textile and orient it as intended: towards the front if the other side says «Posterior», or to the outside if the other side says «Medial».
- Place the end of the liner against the end of your limb and roll it up, taking care not to leave air pockets between your limb and the liner.
- After every ~5 cm, release the vertical tension: slide your thumbs between liner and skin and gently push the inner surface down to a relaxed state.
- Repeat rolling and releasing until the liner is fully on.
Check: the thicker zones should cover the areas your prosthetist showed you, and the alignment line should sit correctly. If not — start over.
Putting on (donning) Your® Sleeve
- Position the distal end of the sleeve on the prosthetic socket.
- Once your liner is donned, insert your limb into the socket and roll the sleeve up onto your limb — no air pockets between sleeve, socket and limb.
- Never don the sleeve with the ends reversed: check that «Top» points up and «Down» points down. Reversing can over-compress your limb or break the suspension.
- The horizontal line must sit at the middle of the joint (knee, elbow…).
Before every use: take a few steps in a safe area to confirm the suspension is safe and the sleeve is positioned correctly.
Taking off (doffing)
Roll the product off from the proximal end (the top). Do not stretch, pinch or pull it.
Never pull by the distal end — this creates vacuum between the product and your limb and can cause skin problems.
Daily cleaning & drying
- Clean thoroughly at the end of every day you wore it: lukewarm tap water and pH-neutral soap, applied with a clean soft cloth or sponge. Wash the inside surface meticulously.
- Rinse off all soap residue with water.
- Dry with a clean lint-free cloth, then place the product fabric-side out on a drying stand. Never let it dry inside out.
Never: scrub it (roughens the surface), use fabric softener or bleach, or dry it with a microwave, oven, dryer or any heating device.
The Your® Drying Stand is made for exactly this routine.
Weekly disinfection
- Put a small amount of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol on a soft, clean lint-free cloth.
- Softly rub the inside of the liner/sleeve for two minutes.
- Rinse off any excess alcohol thoroughly with water, and dry fabric-side out on the drying stand.
Daily inspection, storage & skin care
Inspect daily: after each day of use, check for damage or wear — these can be signs of a changed socket fit and can reduce suspension. Contact your prosthetist immediately if you notice damage, an unraveling seam, or fabric coming off the silicone body.
Storage: fabric cover on the outside, in a cool dry place. For longer storage, make sure it is dry and cover it with a clean plastic bag. Never store in direct sun.
Skin care: wash your limb daily with a mild, pH-balanced, fragrance- and dye-free soap. For dry skin use a matching lotion — but never immediately before donning.
Safety essentials
- Wear Your® Liner/Sleeve for a maximum of 8 hours in a row, then take it off and clean it.
- Before donning, check the inside is clean, dry and free of any objects — and that the product is not hot.
- Never wear it with the fabric cover against your skin.
- Once donned, make sure there are no wrinkles or air pockets — they can irritate the skin or cost you suspension.
- Watch your fingernails — they can damage the silicone.
- If anything looks damaged or worn: stop using it and contact your prosthetist.
These guides summarise the official Instructions for Use — when in doubt, the IFU (PDF) and your prosthetist’s advice take precedence.
